Alyx: Elegant & Minimalistic Boudoir Shoot

Alyx had a very specific vibe that she wanted for her boudoir shoot which included being elegant yet minimalistic. This is how we accomplished her vision.

An Introduction to Alyx

I had worked with Alyx a year prior for a different product shoot I had and we had become good friends. She has always been interested in modeling but reached out to me again this year wanting a boudoir shoot just for her.

The Studio

She chose to have her shoot at the Travis J. Studio in Draper, Utah and I'm so glad she did. The green wall behind her made her eyes shine like none other. It was the perfect backdrop for a minimalistic shoot.

The chair featured in the top photograph is also a prop from this studio that added a perfect amount of elegance to her photos. I used to not love super antique, old-looking furniture (like floral couches and stuff from the 70's), but now I can't get enough of it. It adds so much character to every photograph.

The Posing

I pose all of my clients differently depending on their body type and what angles suit them best. For Alyx, she has a very slim, athletic build which allowed for some longer angles and lines. We took advantage of the gorgeous sunlight that came through the massive windows at this studio to elongate her features.

We accentuated her legs, chest, and hair in many of her poses. She also has some small, delicate tattoos spotted along her arms and torso so we made sure to emphasize those with the placement of her arms and hands.

The Result

We ended up with a gorgeous collage of images that reflected perfectly what it means to be elegant and minimalistic. In Alyx's own words she said,

"I loveddd working with Emily. I was so nervous going into this that I’d hate my body in all the pictures but Emily was so incredible with posing and getting! your! angles! She’s seriously the kindest most talented human and I felt so confident and sexy and good the whole session."
